Yaakov Friedman (Jerusalem)

Prof. Yaakov Friedman of the Jerusalem College of Technology – Machon Lev Academic Center was born in Hungary, 68 years ago, when the region was under Soviet rule. His father was one of the leaders of the Jewish community. Upon completing high school, he was accepted to Moscow University, the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics which he graduated in 1971. Just after graduation, he with his family made alia to Israel. He spent a year of studies at Chabad Yeshiva in Kfar Chabad to complete his spiritual education. After the Yeshiva he was serving in Israel army including also the Yom Kippur War. He got his Ph.D. at Tel-Aviv University in Mathematics followed by 8 years at University of California Los- Angeles and Irvine. From that time he is working at Jerusalem College of Technology as Lecture, Rector, Vice-President for research and Head of research authority. He initiated and was R&D director of several high-tech start-ups and companies. His research is in pure and applied mathematics, theoretical and applied statistics, theoretical physics and recently also experimental physics. His current research interest is development and testing a new extension of Einstein’s Relativity. This theory has a potential to give a new inside in understanding microscopic behavior
